My first exposure to STEM was through FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition. I always wanted to give back, and in college I mentored my first team. This team was an all Girl Scout, First Lego League/ Middle School Team, in Gilbert Iowa. This led me to help create an organization EngiGirl, in Cedar Rapids Iowa, to educate K-5 Girls with STEM skills/ knowledge to help bridge the gender barrier earlier on.
I joined Technovation MN because of my previous positive programs and mentoring experiences. I recently relocated for work to Minnesota, and I wanted to immediately get involved to keep educating young Women with STEM.
